Monsoon winds continue to influence weather across Nepal, with the monsoon trough currently around its average position, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The country is generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain occurring in several parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as some parts of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. A few places in Madhesh Province are also receiving rain.
The division said most of the country will remain generally cloudy this afternoon. Some Himalayan areas are likely to receive moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning.
Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely in many hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and in some hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Some areas of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few areas of the Terai in Madhesh and Koshi provinces, may also receive moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.
Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The country will remain generally cloudy tonight as well. Some Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and a few Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may receive moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning.
Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and a few hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Some parts of the Terai in Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, along with a few areas of the Sudurpaschim Terai, may also receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
Heavy rainfall is again possible at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces tonight.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged people in areas at risk of heavy rainfall to remain alert to possible hazards including debris flows, floods, landslides and soil erosion.
It also warned that rainfall could affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, roads and air transport in the affected areas, and urged people to stay updated with weather information.
