Monsoon conditions continue to prevail across Nepal, with the monsoon low-pressure line currently positioned around its average location, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The weather is generally cloudy across the country, with light to moderate rainfall currently occurring in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division said similar conditions are expected to continue this afternoon.
Some parts of the Himalayan region are likely to receive moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Many parts of the hilly region are also expected to receive rain, while some areas of the Tarai in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces may experience thunderstorms and moderate rainfall.
A few areas of Madhesh Province and the Tarai region of Koshi Province are also likely to receive rainfall with thunder and lightning.
The weather office has warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Strong winds are also possible in some parts of the Tarai in Koshi and Madhesh provinces.
Rainfall to continue at night
Tonight, the Himalayan and hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy.
The Tarai areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces will remain mostly cloudy, while the remaining Tarai areas will experience partly cloudy conditions.
Some parts of the Himalayan region are likely to receive moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Some areas of the hilly region may also experience moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.
Similarly, some parts of the Tarai in Koshi and Lumbini provinces, as well as parts of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces, are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
