Hetauda, August 18
The identities of all those injured in the SUV accident at Juri Khet in Makwanpur have been revealed.
The injured have been identified as Gokarna Dangi (57), Chief Judge of the High Court Birgunj, who is a resident of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-9, Dang; Registrar Taradatta Badu (57); Badu’s wife Laxmi Badu (49); his son Ritendra Badu (25); and his sister Rita Badu (31).
Chhunilal Chaudhary, around 32, a jeep driver from Rapti Municipality-8, Dang, was also injured.
The accident occurred on Tuesday morning when a Scorpio SUV, registration number Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183, travelling from Kathmandu to Birgunj, fell approximately 50–60 metres off the road into a ravine at Jurikhel in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6.
All those injured in the accident were rescued and taken to Bhimphedi Hospital for treatment. Police said preparations were underway to transfer the seriously injured, including Laxmi Badu, to better-equipped hospitals for further treatment.
According to police, a team led by SP Shyambahadur Khatri of the District Police Office, Makwanpur, also reached the accident site.
Police said further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
