Kathmandu, June 16
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Tirtha Raj Aryal, Director General of the Department of Passports.
According to sources at the CIAA, Aryal was arrested in connection with an investigation into the passport procurement scandal. Businessman Siddharth Thapa is also implicated in the case alongside Aryal.
Sources further indicate that one additional person has also been taken into custody. All those detained are currently under security surveillance.
