People’s representatives from Siddharthanagar Municipality in Rupandehi have urged the authorities to bring the Gautam Buddha International Airport into operation at the earliest. During the inauguration of the Siddharthanagar Municipality’s administrative building on Monday, the representatives called on the federal government to make serious efforts to operationalise the international airport.
On the occasion, the Mayor of Siddharthanagar Municipality, Ishtiyak Ahmad Khan, stated that the airport, built at a cost of billions of rupees, should be put into operation as soon as possible. Mayor Khan expressed confidence that the country’s economic activities would become more vibrant once the airport is operational.
“Operation of the airport will not only contribute to the development of Bhairahawa but also support the nation’s overall development efforts. It will increase tourist arrivals,” he added. Similarly, the municipality’s spokesperson, Muktinath Yadav, said that industrialists and businesspeople in the area have been affected due to the lack of commercial flights from the airport.
