A fire broke out in six buses parked in Dharan of Sunsari district on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at the Atal Garage in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–8, where the buses had been parked.
According to DSP Chandra Khadka of the District Police Office, Sunsari, three buses were destroyed in the fire, while three others sustained partial damage.
The Krishna Bus (registration number Ko 1 Kha 6274) was completely gutted. Similarly, the Kankai Yatayat bus (registration number Pra 1–01–001 Kha 4037) and the Pathibhara Darshan bus (registration number Ba 4 Kha 5759) were also destroyed.

DSP Khadka said that the cause of the fire is under investigation. “Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire does not appear to be intentional. It seems to have started due to an electrical short circuit inside the bus,” he said. “CCTV footage also shows no suspicious activity. Further investigation is underway.”
According to police, the fire started from the bus with registration number Ko 1 Kha 6274. The bus operates on the Biratnagar–Dharan route and had caught fire once before, about a month ago, while it was in operation.
“Reports indicate that the bus operating on the Biratnagar–Dharan route had previously caught fire. The same bus appears to have caught fire first this time as well,” DSP Khadka said. “The bus entered the garage for parking at around 9 pm, the fire started at about 9:30 pm, and the police were informed only around 10 pm.”
