Folk singer Kamal Nirmohi has passed away. He died on Tuesday evening while undergoing treatment for kidney disease.
Singer Komal Oli expressed her condolences through Facebook, saying she was deeply saddened by Nirmohi’s death. She recalled some of the songs she had sung with him, including “Tyo Madi Kholale Chekeko Haina” and “Malai Chekyo Mayalu Timrai Mayale,” which had gained popularity. Hundreds of his recorded songs were broadcast on Radio Nepal.
Born in Dang, Nirmohi had been living in Nepalgunj in recent years. He was also a former employee of Radio Nepal. Some of his hit songs include “Lagyo Maya Mohani Najarma” and “Pokharama Kya Ramro Rupatal, Dunga Chadhi Salala Mayajal.” In addition to folk music, he also lent his voice to folk-pop and modern songs.
Nirmohi is survived by a son and two daughters. His wife had passed away just a month ago. His funeral is scheduled to take place at Sidhania Ghat on the Rapti River in Dang.
