Professor Bandana Mishra Madhu’s poetry collection Kabitako Annaprashan was released on Sunday in Kathmandu. The book was jointly launched by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Indira Rana Magar, journalist Namrata Sharma, writer and journalist Rohit Bhandari, and publisher Roshna Subedi Mishra.
On the occasion, Deputy Speaker Rana Magar said that Kabitako Annaprashan would serve as an inspiration for women. She noted that while incidents of violence against women are often reported in the Madhesh region, the message that a daughter-in-law supported her mother-in-law in publishing a poetry collection would encourage other women and help promote literacy activities.
Deputy Speaker Rana Magar said, “I am delighted to hear that a daughter-in-law supported her mother-in-law in writing a book and even became its publisher. Such collaboration among women not only yields positive results but also fosters closeness and harmony. I also admire the effort by author Mishra, who, after marrying and coming to Nepal, learned the Nepali language and undertook this literary journey.”
Rana Magar also shared that although she herself writes poems and songs, she has not been able to publish them in book form, and thus found Mishra’s collection inspiring.
“If author Mishra can come to Nepal, learn the Nepali language, and bring it to us in the form of a book, then we can also do it, I can do it too. We must channel our energy into such positive endeavors,” she said.
Author Mishra shared that after marrying and moving to Nepal from India, she gave shape to her literary skills and the language she learned in the form of this book.
“I came to Nepal in 1986. After arriving here, I learned the language, and today, because of that, I became able to bring out this poetry collection. This is just my beginning; I will continue contributing to literature in the days to come,” she said. She added that the support of her family made it possible for her to publish the words she had written.
Journalists Namrata Sharma and Rohit Bhandari also provided commentary on the book
