The mid-range option from the Redmi K70 series, the Redmi K70 could be one of the best smartphones in the price range.

The K70 Pro, the older sibling, features the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. In contrast, the younger sibling, the K70e, is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset and the previous-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

The smartphone shares most of its specifications with its elder sibling but differs in terms of chipset and camera.

Design and Display

The design, dimensions and weight of the Redmi K70 are the same as the K70 Pro. The only difference is the camera sensors and the frosted metal frames instead of the glossy metal frames. It has an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 2MP macro instead of a 50MP telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens. The special Lamborghini edition is not available for the smartphone. As for colour options, it has a Purple colour option along with the Black, White and Moon blue colour options.

It shares the same screen specs too. It has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3,200 by 1,440. It has vibrant colours with 68.7 billion shades. The screen is also super bright at 4,000 nits. It has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and special eye protection features. It has a touch sampling rate of up to 2160Hz and an ultra-high frequency PWM dimming of up to 3,840Hz.

Performance and Storage

The Redmi K70 has the previous generation flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 built on a 4nm architecture. Its octa-core CPU configuration includes a high-performing Cortex-X3 core clocked at 3.2 GHz, accompanied by two Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.8 GHz, another pair of Cortex-A710 cores at 2.8 GHz and three Cortex-A510 cores at 2.0 GHz. The Adreno 740 GPU handles the graphics processing. It runs on the new Android 14 with the HyperOS operating system.

As for the memory, the smartphone has 12 GB and 16 GB RAM options. The 12 GB is the base variant paired with the 256 GB storage option. The 16 GB option is paired with the 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB storage options.

Camera

The only department that is weak in the Redmi K70 is the camera. It has a triple rear camera setup like the Pro model but lacks the telephoto lens and a macro lens. It has a 50MP primary camera, which uses the Light Hunter™ 800 sensor with a 1/1.55” sensor size and a wide F1.6 aperture. It also has optical image stabilization (OIS) for steady photos and videos. The other two are an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

The rear camera system of the Redmi K70 offers a wide range of features and high-resolution video recording capabilities, including 8K video at 24fps, 4K video shooting at 24fps to 60fps and 1,080p videos at 30fps and 60fps.

It can also record 1,080p slow-motion videos at 120, 240, 480, 960, and 1,920fps. The features include peaking focus, AI watermark, tilt-shift effect, long exposure, 4K video, dynamic photos, gesture photography, voice subtitles, voice-controlled photography, timed continuous shooting, exposure feedback, ID card copy mode, sports capture, everything focus tracking 2.0, micro movie, 8K video, cute photo, panorama and document mode.

Moving to the front camera, the Redmi K70 has a 16MP camera for selfies and videos. It also has various features, including video recording at 1,080p with options for 30 or 60fps and supports various shooting modes such as night mode, panorama and voice-activated shooting.

Battery and Others

The Redmi K79 has a 5,000mAh battery which can last a day without any problem. For charging the in-box 120W fast wired charger can charge the smartphone from 0-100 per cent in about 20 minutes. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 7 support to Wi-Fi 6 enhanced, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 4, and 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connections with other devices. It also accommodates dual SIM cards.

Audio quality is proper with stereo dual speakers for a great sounding experience. It is equipped with a range of sensors, including an optical distance sensor, 360° front and rear dual light sensors, acceleration sensor, ambient colour temperature sensor, electronic compass, gyroscope, infrared remote control, and a flicker sensor.

It is available in Black, White, Moon Blue, and Purple colour options.

The expected price range for the Redmi K70 in Nepal should be around Rs 60,000 for the 12GB/256GB variant, Rs 66,000 for the 16GB/256GB variant, Rs 72,000 for the 16GB/512GB variant and Rs 78,000 for the 16GB/1TB option.
