Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has said the country will take the next 10 years to improve the level of its civil aviation industry so that it can meet International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)’s standard.
In an interaction organised to discuss the master plan for upgrading and extending Bhadrapur Airport in Jhapa on Tuesday, he shared that the government was working on upgrading and extending the airports across the country to meet the ICAO standard and the objectives would be fulfilled in the next decade.
The civil aviation minister said the Bhadrapur Airport would be upgraded as per the advanced master plan. Land acquisition process for upgrading the airport was underway as additional 100 bighas of lands were required, he said. Minister Bhattarai further urged all to cooperate for the same.
Speaking in the same programme, Civil Aviation Authority’s general manager Rajan Pokhrel opined for constructing a new terminal building at the airport.
