5 arrested with 30 kg of opium and 1.3 million worth of fake cash in Surkhet

The District Police Office, Surkhet has seized a huge quantity of opium and counterfeit currency notes. Five people arrested with the banned narcotics and fake currency notes were made public by the Surkhet Police on Tuesday in Birendranagar.

Those arrested are Dilmaya Singh Thakuri, 22, of Kushe Rural Municipality-5 Jajarkot, her brother Ram Bahadur Singh, 33, and Krishna Bahadur Wali, 35, of Kushe Rural Municipality-7, said Chief of the District Police Office, Surkhet, SP Sudhir Raj Shahi.

Similarly, 38-year-old Prem Bahadur BK, a resident of Bheriganga Municipality-12, Surkhet, and Man Bahadur Sahakari, a permanent resident of Naraharinath Rural Municipality-4, Kalikot, who is currently operating a media company called Janagarjan Media Pvt Ltd, located in Banke Kohalpur Municipality-11, New Road were also among those arrested.

Police said Rs. 1.3 million worth of counterfeit currency notes and opium worth about Rs 9 million were seized. According to initial investigation, the arrested persons have exchanged fake notes worth about Rs 200,000 against real ones and most were paid to traders from Surkhet and Jajarkot for the purchase of opium.
