Kathmandu, November 12

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City police relocated individuals selling flowers and garlands within the city to a designated area as specified by the city.

The Chief of City Police, Rajunath Pandey, said that flower sellers from various locations were transported to the designated sales area along with their goods using vehicles provided by the Metropolitan Police.

As per the Mayor of Kathmandu, Balen Shah, a collaborative initiative involving the metropolis, the Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN) and the Nepal Chamber of Commerce has been established. This initiative ensures that the sale of flowers will exclusively take place within the premises of Bhrikutimandap, Tinkune, Handigaon and Balaju Valley Cold Store.

Farmers selling flowers, however, ended up in various locations, including New Road, prompting the city police to relocate them.

“Since these people were unaware of the city’s designated selling points, we loaded the flowers onto the city’s vehicle and transported them to the assigned location. The city police force assisted in loading and unloading the flowers,” said Pandey.
