Kathmandu, July 2

The government has approved an allocation of Rs 7.728 billion for the House of Representatives elections scheduled to be held in November this year.

The fate of the polls, however, remains uncertain as the Supreme Court is hearing a petition against the dissolution of the erstwhile House and announcement of the new polls. A verdict on this case is likely next week.

A source in the Ministry of Finance says the ministry has approved the Election Commission to spend this amount for preparations and operation of the elections, also assuring the government would not let the commission feel any budget crunch for the scheduled polls.
