European Union Film Festival Nepal to celebrate cinema beyond borders

Kathmandu, November 9

The 14th European Union Film Festival Nepal is set to kick off this month, bringing together acclaimed European filmmakers and emerging Nepali voices in a celebration of cinema without borders.

The festival will begin from November 14–16 at QFX Chhaya Center, Thamel, and from November 21–23 at QFX Trade Mall, Chipledhunga, Pokhara.

This year’s edition features 25 films, including 10 European features, 6 BAFTA-nominated shorts, and 9 Nepali short films, exploring themes of identity, belonging, resistance, and transformation.

The European lineup includes Banzo (Portugal), Je’vida (Finland), Happy (Austria), Without Air (Hungary), and The Girl from Tomorrow (France/Italy), along with a BAFTA Shorts Showcase from the UK featuring Wander to Wonder, Rock, Paper, Scissors, Mog’s Christmas, Milk, and Adios. Complementing these are Nepali short films curated in collaboration with local filmmakers and film schools, including What Grows in Thari Maila’s Vegetable Garden?, Chandani, Abyss, and Eternal Kinship. Together, they create a cinematic dialogue that transcends borders and celebrates the shared human experience.

EUFF Nepal 2025 is organised by the EU Delegation to Nepal, in collaboration with embassies and cultural institutions representing EU Member States in Kathmandu and Delhi, including those of France, Germany, and Finland, as well as the British Council and UNESCO. All screenings are free, and the films will be shown with English subtitles.
