The Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub’s project “Shaping Political Futures,” winner of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Innovation Prize 2024, concluded its two-day political imagination workshop titled “Power, Process, Structure, and Discourse” on June 28–29, 2025, in Kathmandu, in collaboration with Karkhana Samuha.
The workshop brought together over 30 passionate youth, policy thinkers, and civic actors from across Nepal, sparking fresh conversations around politics, policy, federalism, and civic action.
According to the organiser, the event created a dynamic space for rethinking political systems and nurturing emerging leadership grounded in inclusion, empathy, and evidence.
During the event Kailash Rai explored political power transitions, Hari Sharma unpacked the idea of the nation-state and Binaya Mishra addressed the intricacies of federal restructuring. Additional sessions included a conflict circle led by Meena Sharma.
The second day of the workshop began with mental health reflections through the Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub’s project, Mero Mansik Yatra, and then accelerated into education systems, entrepreneurship, and policy-making with experts like Sumiran Shrestha, Surath Giri, and Neha Shrestha.
Youth leadership and political ownership remained recurring themes throughout the residential event. Participants also engaged in a strategic social deduction game, a simulation of trust, deception, and survival, to stimulate critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
The workshop concluded with a civic action planning session featuring an activity titled “Letter to the representative,” where the participants wrote a letter to their local, provincial, or federal representatives.
“This isn’t just a workshop,” said Deanna Sherpa, Curator of Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub. “It’s a political lab, and our participants are ready to shape tomorrow with bold, inclusive, and innovative leadership.”
