Journalist Basanta Basnet launches Simsara

Simsara

Kathmandu, October 3

Journalist and author Basanta Basnet launched his third book, Simsara, on Wednesday at a Dabali in Pragya Pratisthan, Kathmandu.

Simsara is Basnet’s second novel; his first novel, Mahabhara, was released in 2022. His debut book was 72 ko Bismaya.

Filmmaker Min Bham, musician Ujjwal Saagar, poet Asmita Gautam, and writer Basanta Basnet launched the book.

After the launch, Min Bham reviewed the book, and Basanta Basnet and Asmita Gautam engaged in a discussion about it. The book launch event began with a 20-minute solo performance by Ujjwal Saagar.

During the event, Bham said that although the book is set in Ilam, eastern Nepal, it felt like it told his own story, even though he was born and raised in Mugu, western Nepal.

Basnet mentioned during the event that he wrote Simsara from the bottom of his heart, including events and experiences he had observed or lived through during his childhood.

“Family is a blend of war, peace, and love. The story in this novel revolves around such aspects,” said Basnet.
