5.3-magnitude earthquake shakes Far-West, epicentre in India

Kathmandu, December 2

The Far-Western Region experienced a jolt at 10.30 pm on Thursday. The 5.3-magnitude quake had its epicentre in northwest India, 15 kilometres from Darchula district.

Kapil Maharjan, technical assistant at Earthquake Measurement Centre Surkhet, confirmed that the jolt shook the region.

Kedra Khanal, chief of Darchula district police office, said they are yet to receive details of the damage. He said: We have told all  police posts to collect details of the damage.
