By-election campaigning will not be allowed from tonight

For the by-elections to be held on April 27, the silent period will start from midnight tonight.

Election campaigning cannot be done during the silent period. According to the election code of conduct, the silent period starts 48 hours before the polling.

Next Saturday in Ilam Region No. 2 for the Representative Assembly and for the Provincial Assembly in Bajhang Region No.1 ‘Ka’by-elections are being held.

The Election Commission has mentioned that it has created a special mechanism to monitor the activities that are against the code of conduct during the silent period.

According to the Election Commission, it is prohibited to promote even through social media during the silent period.
