Kathmandu, July 19

India has assured Nepal of an early supply of Covid-19 vaccines to the country, claims the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

One day after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba won a challenging vote of confidence to secure his government’s rule for the next 1.5 years, he had a telephone conversation with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, in which the duo discussed strengthening the bilateral ties, the ministry tweeted after the meeting. In the meantime, India assured Nepal of supplying the Covid-19 vaccines early, according to the tweet.

Deuba also mentioned the same in his tweet.

It is, however, not yet clear if Modi assured the neighbour of one million vaccines from the Serum Institute of India, which Nepal has already paid for, or any other support.

Meanwhile, Modi also tweeted after the conversation but he has not mentioned anything about the vaccines.
