Panchthar, June 3

In course of about a fortnight, 10 people have died in Panchthar district after consuming wild mushroom.

Birendra Manglak (36) of Angna village development committee-1, Panchthar, died en route to Amda Hospital in Damak, Jhapa district, from Ghopa of Dharan, Sunsari district, on Thursday night, police informed. Manglak had taken ill 11 days ago after eating wild mushroom.

The medical facility in Ghopa had referred him to the hospital. Police said seven other people, who took ill after consuming wild mushroom, are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the eastern region.

What, do you think, the government and non-government organisations, especially those working on the public health sector, need to do to curb preventable deaths like these? Feel free to comment.
