Kathmandu, February 6

Meteorological officials have informed that a new system of westerly wind has arrived in Nepal on Wednesday and predicted that it is most likely to trigger heavy rain and snowfall across the country for next few days.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has appealed to members of the public to stay alert against possible floods and landslides. Further, it has advised tourists, both foreigners and Nepalis, to avoid any trekking activity till the beginning of next week.

The western part of the country has already witnessed cloudy skies this morning and it is expanding towards the central and eastern parts in the afternoon, informs meteorologist Manju Basi.

“In Kathmandu also, it will rain on Thursday and Friday,” she says, “The weather will improve only after Saturday.”
