Vote counting halted in Dharan

Dharan, July 4

Vote counting has been halted in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City of Sunsari district after counting staff have been accused of counting votes received by a party as those of another one.

Representatives of the CPN-Maoist Centre have accused that 50 votes of their party have been counted as votes of the CPN-ML.

Election symbols of the two parties are quite similar. Whereas the Maoist Centre’s symbol is hammer and sickle in a circle the ML has a star and a sickle.

Meanwhile, two staff, Man Bahadur Karki and Dhan Kumar Rai, have been expelled from the counting venue accusing them of miscalculation.

An all-party meeting has been called to resume the halted counting.
