Vice President stresses development of tourism to lead Nepal to prosperity

Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun

Kaski, January 16

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun says the country’s tourism industry can and should be a major foundation to lead Nepal to prosperity.

Speaking at a function organised in Pokhara of Kaski district, which is also called the country’s tourism capital, on Wednesday morning, Pun said the government should think of development of tourism, agriculture, hydropower and herbs as the key foundations for Nepal’s prosperity.

On the occasion, the Vice President also highlighted problems of the industry. “There are insufficient physical infrastructures for Nepal’s tourism industry. The need of the hour is to establish the infrastructures and bring in ‘quality’ tourists,” the Vice President said.

He was of the view that the sector should help youth stay in the country instead of going abroad as the country’s political scenario recently turned stable.

The Gandaki provincial government’s Minister for Financial Affairs and Planning, Kiran Gurung, said his government would cooperate with the entrepreneurs to crease an investment friendly environment.
