Kathmandu, April 17
Nepal’s main opposition party, the CPN-UML, says it has plans to increase the country’s per capita income to up to $5,000 per year within the next five years.
Leaders of the party, who were talking to mediapersons about their manifesto for the elections, said the UML will make education and healthcare free for all, if it wins the upcoming elections.
“If we win, we will implement plans to increase the per capita income to $5,000 within five years,” said party leader Bamdev Gautam. According to government data, Nepal’s per capita income stands at $733.
According to Gautam, the UML plans to eradicate poverty in three years, and unemployment of all forms within the next five years, provided that the party wins the elections.
