‘UML may obstruct House if ruling parties find support from two-third lawmakers’

CPN-UML Secretary Bhim Acharya speaks with journalists in Kathmandu, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

Kathmandu, July 12

A senior leader of the main opposition CPN-UML says his party might obstruct Parliament meetings if ruling parties finally achieve the support of two-third lawmakers for the endorsement of constitution amendment bill.

Bhim Acharya says the UML does not leave any stone unturned to block the endorsement of bill, which the party has been claiming to be unconstitutional and against national interests.

Speaking with journalists in Kathmandu today, Acharya said, “They cannot achieve two-third support for the endorsement at any condition. But, if they make it anyway, we will be forced to do anything.”

“What we will do depends on the situation,” he said, “We may obstruct the House.”

Acharya was of the view that the government and ruling parties were hyping the issue of amendment to influence voters in upcoming elections.
