Kathmandu, April 19
The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the umbrella organisation of Nepali private sector, on Thursday has clarified that it is against all forms of cartels, syndicates and rotations in the business sector.
The statement comes a couple of days after the federation of Nepali transport entrepreneurs announced an indefinite strike against the government decision to stop registration and renewal of transport entrepreneur committees so as to kill the cartels.
Issuing a statement today, the FNCCI said it was advocating for the end of such practices in the country for a long time, and the recent government decision was a milestone towards that end.
Likewise, the organisation said such practices were unceremonious and inappropriate for a country which has already adopted the open market policy.
Meanwhile, the organisation called protesting transport entrepreneurs to withdraw their strike and ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of vehicles on the road.
