Two UDMF activists injured in police firing at Nepalgunj

Nepalgunj, March 14

Two UDMF activists were injured on Tuesday when police opened fire at Sonpur Gonana along the Gulariya-Nepalgunj road section, according to Alam Khan of THRD Alliance. Police reportedly fired teargas canisters and fired in the air as tension intensified between CPN-UML activists taking part in their Mechi-Mahakali Campaign and UDMF workers opposing the same.

District administration said police opened fire as UDMF cadres tried to snatch their service weapons. For their part, UDMF denied the administration’s version. UDMF said all it wanted was to stop people from attending the CPN-UML programme in Nepalgunj.
