Hetaunda, March 12
A bus carrying wedding attendants fell off the road in Chainpur Danda, Gadhi Rural Municipality-2 of Makawanpur district, killing two persons on the spot.
The bus (Ba 4 Kha 2217) was heading towards Hetaunda from Bhaktapur for a wedding function.
The victims have been identified as Nawa Raj Pariyar (30) from Jyamdi of Kavre and Bikash Dhamala (21) from Nuwakot, according to police. They were residing in Bhaktapur and Balaju of Kathmandu respectively.
Other 17 persons have sustained injuries in the incident and five of them are critical. They are undergoing treatment at Hetaunda Hospital and Chure Hill Hospital.
The bus was stuck at a tree after falling around 20 metres down.
The groom’s family had taken three buses from Bhaktapur to the bride’s home, and one of them fell off the road. The groom and his family are safe.
