Kidnapped boy found dead, suspects killed in Bhaktapur police encounter

Kathmandu, August 6

Two persons who had allegedly abducted an 11-year-old boy from Kandaghari of Kathmandu have been shot dead in a police firing at Doleshwor of Bhaktapur district today.

Personnel from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, who were on the lookout for the alleged kidnappers since Sunday night, shot the two kidnappers dead after a clash with them.

According to the chief of Metropolitan Police Crime Division SSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh, those killed have been identified as Ajaya Tamang and Gopal Tamang.

A pistol, bullets and a mobile phone used to call the child’s parents has been found at the location.

Victim murdered

Meanwhile, police say the abduction victim, identified as Nishan Khadka, was murdered by the criminals.

Police had recovered the body at a private household in Thimi of Bhaktapur at around 12 pm today.

It has been reported that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 3 million from the family.
