The CDO office in Jhapa has decided to bar trucks and tippers from roads during morning and evening rush hours around main highway and roads, markets, schools and hospital areas.
According to CDO, Janak Raj Dahal this measure was taken to reduce accidents that had been common. He also reiterated they were only banning the heavy vehicles for two hours in the morning (9m-11am) and evenings (3pm-5pm) so it would be easier for other vehicles to enter the city.
This decision was made after a talk between all parties involved shares District Police Chief Bhim Prasad Dhakal. He adds that everyone has been requested to follow this rule.
A similar rule had been implemented in Kathmandu but after pressure from stakeholders, the ban was lifted.
