Transport Department claims wait for driving licences will end in two months

Kathmandu, June 12

The Department of Transport Management has claimed that it will distribute driving licences to people who have already passed required tests within next two months.

As many as four new printers have been bought for printing the licence in two shifts to end the distribution problem. The Department had been printing the driving licence using four printers only.

According to spokesperson at the Department, Tulsiram Aryal, the service seekers who have been waiting will get their licence within two months.

Around 300,000 people are waiting for their licences thanks to the delay in printing and distribution. The government had started distributing smart licences two years ago.

Many service seekers have been driving on the basis of a receipt handed over to them after the application submission. Now, the problem of supply and printing of cards has resolved, adds Aryal.

Meanwhile, the Department is preparing to call for tender for one million more licence cards.
