Top leaders of four major political parties will address separate mass meetings in Biratnagar Metropolitan City of Morang district, calling voters to cast votes for their parties in the second phase of local level elections on June 28.

KP Sharma Oli of the CPN-UML, Pushpa Kamal Dahal of the CPN-Maoist Centre, Upendra Yadav of the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Bijay Kumar Gachhadar of Nepal Democratic Forum join their parties’ election campaigns in the only metropolis that is going to polls next week.

In Biratnagar, UML and Democratic Forum have partnered up for the polls against the Maoist-Socialist Forum alliance.

Therefore, Oli and Gachhadar will address a joint assembly of two parties whereas Dahal and Yadav will also follow suit.

The Nepali Congress, which considers Biratnagar its own stronghold, is fighting alone.

More than half dozen Congress leaders are residing in Biratnagar for past one week.

The party’s President and Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, however, will not go to Biratnagar this time as he is scheduled to leave for Province 7 today. He will come back only after voting.
