Three mobile hospitals in Gandaki to serve highway accident survivors

The Gandaki provincial government has decided to develop three hospitals in three districts as ‘highway trauma mobile hospitals’ which would immediately provide medical services to the injured ones in road accidents along highways.

The government’s move aims at making the province free of deaths in road accidents.

In the first phase, Damauli Hospital in Tanahu, Waling Primary Health Post in Syangja and Tilar Health Centre at Dimuwa of Parbat would be developed into mobile hospitals, according to Information Officer at the Ministry of Social Development of Gandaki Province, Prakas Raj Sharma.

The Ministry of Social Development has allocated Rs 15.5 million for this project.

These mobile hospitals will have a well equipped ambulance with GPS fitted in it. Such ambulances will have one MMBS graduate doctor, nurse and health assistant will be compulsorily deployed.

According to a study of the World Health Organisation, of those untimely killed in road accidents in Nepal, half of them were reported dead for the want of timely treatment.
