Supreme Court row: Staffers’ union backs CJ Parajuli

File: Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli

Kathmandu, March 13

The Supreme Court staffers’ union has deplored the decision by a group of justices to ‘boycott’ hearings set by Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli.

The official trade union of the court’s staffers has said in a statement that it will resort to protests if the justices continue to boycott proceedings. It says that if such a situation arises, the staffers will demand the resignation of the justices concerned.

The union has also demanded that the justices hold a meeting to sort out their differences through dialogue and not resort to making statements on the issues.

The statement has been signed by the Nepali Congress, the UML and the Maoist Centre-aligned leaders of the various trade unions.
