Kathmandu, May 8

Some leaders of the former Naya Shakti Party, which merged to the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal to form the Samajwadi Party Nepal, have expressed their unhappiness with the merger.

It has been learned that some of the leaders of Baburam BHattai-led party are likely to join the ruling Nepal Communist Party.

They organised a meeting on Wednesday. Sources say former lawmaker Kalpana Dhamala, Gyanendra Kumal, Devendra Parajuli, Ram Rijhan Yadav and Madan Rai among others attended the meeting.

They also expressed their sadness over the party leadership’s failure to consult them for such a crucial decision.

An NCP leader also confirmed reports that the disgruntled leaders would join the party.

“Discussions are underway with our friends. We will welcome them after reaching an agreement,” the leader said.
