It has been found that former lawmaker and Tharuhat leader Ganga Chaudhary Satgauwa has been included as a proportional representation candidate by two parties–CPN-UML and Naya Shakti Party Nepal.

Chaudhary was elected to the second Constituent Assembly in 2013 as a PR lawmaker of Tharuhat Terai Party. Later, she defected to the Naya Shakti amidst a grand function.

Chaudhary was seen accompanying Naya Shakti chief Baburam Bhattarai on various Facebook posts. But, she reportedly expedited communications with top UML leaders as the dates for elections came closer.

Consequently, she has been included on the third position of Tharu PR candidates in the UML list. Chaudhary, however, chose not to inform Bhattarai’s party about leaving the party.

Therefore, the Naya Shakti also included her name.

Meanwhile, Chaudhary says after knowing that Naya Shakti also submitted her name as its candidate, she has informed the Election Commission that she belongs to the UML now.

She does not hesitate to say that she chose the UML over Naya Shakti as Bhattarai’s party is uncertain about crossing three per cent threshold required for parliamentary berth.

“Before leading the Tharuhat movement, I was in the UML. Now, Baburamji joined the democratic alliance, hence I came back to the leftist one,” she says.
