Kathmandu, October 3

Ruling coalition partner CPN-Maoist Centre’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba that the government under his leadership will not topple till provincial and federal parliamentary elections scheduled for November 26 and December 7.

Dahal’s assured Deuba of the support to government till the polls immediately after his party agreed with the main opposition CPN-UML to form an alliance for the polls and ultimately unify two major leftist forces of the country.

Dahal has also told Deuba that the Maoist Centre and UML have agreed not to make changes in the government before the polls.

“Poll partnership and unification are our internal issues and the Congress is also free to make agreement with any party about these issues,” a Maoist leader says, “We have told the PM that we will not withdraw the support extended to the government.”

But, if Deuba chooses to resign after losing the Maoists to the opposition, the UML and Maoist Centre will take initiatives to form a new government, he informs.
