Rautahat: Five including minor injured as police, RJPN cadres clash

At least five persons including a minor sustained injuries when police intervened in a function hosted by the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal in Garuda Municipality of Rautahat district on Thursday night.

Police had tried to prevent local RJPN cadres from showing pictures and footage from the Madhesh movement in the run-up to elections, in Mahamadpur, Garuda-5 of the district. But, the clash ensued and five persons were hurt.

Police say some security personnel were also injured; but their number is not revealed yet.

The injured are undergoing treatment at different health facilities in Chapur, Garuda and Gaur.

Police had lobbed tear gas and opened fire in the air to contain the situation. Later, an additional troop of the Armed Police Force was deployed at the site.
