Rana’s RPP-Democratic announces street protest against government

RPP-Democratic Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana speaks with journalists in Biratnagar of Morang, on Thursday, September 14, 2017.

Kathmandu, July 29

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Democratic led by Pashupati Shamsher Rana on Sunday has announced a street protest programme against the government.

The party’s vice chairperson and former minister Deepak Bohora says the party decided to launch the protest as the government promoted inflation and raised tax rates that, according to him, hit members of the public hard.

Accordingly, the party has scheduled a mass demonstration in the capital this Wednesday.

The announcement follows the decision of main opposition party Nepali Congress to launch a national protest programme against the government. The RPP-Democratic, however, is not represented in the Federal Parliament.

“The government could not move ahead meeting people’s expectations,” Bohora says, “Therefore we have launched the demonstration.”

Meanwhile, the party has launched province-level campaigns to expand its organisation, according to the party’s leader Rajaram Shrestha.
