Provincial police row: Prachanda trying to fuel conflict, says Lal

Kathmandu, October 25

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal Vice-president Brijesh Chandra Lal has accused NCP Chairman Prachanda of trying to fuel conflict between the federal and the provincial governments.

Referring to Prachanda’s comments few days ago warning the provinces not to ‘overtake’ the centre, Lal said that such comments hint at the former Maoist leader’s ulterior motives. Going by the comments, we can say that Prachanda wants the conflict to aggravate and blame the government so that he can take over, said Lal.

“The most the federal government can do is dissolve or suspend the provincial government. If the federal government resorts to this move, the situation will become more complicated,” he said speaking at a programme in Kathmandu.

Lal called on the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of the inter-provincial council at the earliest so that multiple issues related to delegation of power can be resolved.
