Janakpur, August 4

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba says local level elections in Province 2 scheduled for September 18 will not get postponed even if agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal chooses to boycott them.

He, however, maintains that the government is committed to making best efforts to bring the Madhesh-centric party on board the election process.

Talks are underway with the party about election participation, he claims.

Speaking with journalists at a press meet in Janakpur today, Deuuba says his Nepali Congress party is committed to amending the constitution in order to address demands of the agitating party. The proposal, however, has not been put to vote yet as there are not enough votes in the House to endorse the amendment, he adds.

Deuba says the Congress will emerge as the biggest party after September 18 polls.
