Prime Minister Oli says BIMSTEC Summit successful

Kathamandu, September 3

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has termed the recently concluded fourth BIMSTEC Summit successful, both in terms of hosting the event and getting desired outcomes from it.

Oli, who was addressing the final meeting of the BIMSTEC Organising Committee, said that the main highlight of the event was the agreement between member states to cooperate in the energy sector. The Prime Minister said that visiting heads of government were also positive towards buying electricity from Nepal.
He explained that Nepal has expedited talks with India and Bangladesh to facilitate power trade with India and Bangladesh in the near future and Thailand and Myanmar in the long-term.
PM Oli also expressed his gratitude to officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and security forces for making the event successful.
