Kathmandu, August 16
In the wake of loss of more than 100 lives and properties worth millions, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to prepare immediate and long-term disaster management plans.
In a meeting with the Prime Minister at Sheetal Niwas today, President Bhandari expressed grief at the loss of lives and properties in the aftermath of the monsoon-triggered disasters and drew the government’s attention towards preventing the shortage of food supplies and medicines in the affected areas.
According to the President’s Press Advisor Madhav Sharma, the President appealed for mobilisation of Scouts, community-based organisations including the private sector for effective rescue and relief operations.
