President stresses export promotion to reduce trade deficit

Kathmandu, February 14

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed the promotion of export in the country in the wake of the ballooning trade deficit.

President Bhandari said so while inaugurating the Nepal Entrepreneurship Summit 2019 jointly organised by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Supplies and Ministry of Finance here today.

President Bhandari underscored encouraging youth for developing entrepreneurship, creating conducive environment for investment, institutionalising the government services and putting in place vocational training and exchange of ideas and experience on entrepreneurship at national, regional and international levels.

The first of its kind event is organised with the theme of ‘Federal Nepal: Opportunities for Investment and Growth’ to boost entrepreneurship at the local as well as national levels.

The event also aims to encourage Nepali people working abroad to return home and become entrepreneurs.

She spoke of the need to directly engage Nepali youth in the economic development through the entrepreneurship and exploit on their knowledge, skills and expertise to realise the government’s motto of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Yadav, said that all should stand together in the campaign of prosperity by giving up the mentality of agitation.

Saying that the government was ready to create environment conducive for investment, Minister Yadav said the government was ready to hold discussion with entrepreneurs anytime to resolve the problems surfaced in this sector.
