President shortens China trip after experiencing altitude sickness

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday returned home after her trip to China.

Bhandari was scheduled to return home on Thursday. However, she shortened the trip by one day after she experienced altitude sickness in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, China’s autonomous region, according to President’s Chief Private Secretary Bhesh Raj Adhikari.

It has been learned that Bhandari was already tired when she arrived in Lhasa.

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli among others received the President, at the Tribhuvan International Airport, this morning.

President was in China to take part in the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The Leadership Roundtable of the Forum has put Nepal-China crossbroder railway.

Meanwhile, some stakeholders criticised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for neglecting the Head of State’s health status during the official visit.
