Power sharing for unification yet to be finalised: Dahal tells Maoist leaders

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has informed leaders of his party that issues regarding how to share powerful positions in the government and the unified party have not been settled as his party and the CPN-UML have expedited discussions with an objective of merger.

During a meeting of the party’s top leaders at his residence in Khumaltar of Lalitpur today, Dahal said the current discussions between two parties were centred on the issue of leadership management.

“The leadership issue is still under discussion,” Maoist leader Mani Thapa told media after the meeting quoting Dahal, “The two parties have also agreed that they can resolve other ideological and political issues on the basis of election manifesto the parties jointly issued.”

The meeting decided to accelerate preparations for the merger. Party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal told media informed that there was not any challenge to the unification and new government formation.

Meanwhile, the meeting formed a panel to investigate into reports of noncooperation within the party to defeat its leaders during recent elections.

The Amik Sherchan-led panel has Lilamani Pokharel, Ganesh Sah, Hitraj Pandey and Rekha Sharma as its members.

Another panel has been formed to facilitate the organisational management of its leaders and cadres after the proposed unification. Ram Bahadur Thapa heads the committee.
