Kathmandu, December 21
Senior leftist leaders Mohan Bikram Singh and Mohan Baidhya have forged working unity with young Maoist leader Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav. Right after coming together, the three leaders announced a movement against India through a joint press release.
Singh, Baidhya and Biplav, who head the CPN-Masal, CPN-Revolutionary Maoist and CPN-Maoist respectively, have announced protests against Indian investment in Upper Karnali and Arun III hydropower projects. They have also demanded the removal of Indian Embassy’s camp office in Biratnagar, opened without approval from the government of Nepal.
The release states that the three parties will organise a protest assembly against the Upper Karnali project in Surkhet on January 6, a demonstration against the Arun III project in Sankhuwasabha on January 9 and a demonstration in Biratnagar against the camp office on January 13.
The Singh-led party is represented in the Parliament, whereas Baidhya and Biplav have boycotted the Constituent Assembly. The two Maoist parties and Masal differ on issues like federalism and Maoism.
