Pokhara, March 14

The local government in Pokhara city, one of the most popular tourist destinations of the country, has decided to shut down companies which are operating paragliding services without registering themselves with the local government.

In the wake of increasing accidents in the adventurous sport these days, the city government had urged all companies to register by Tuesday so that it can effectively monitor them. However, only 10 companies registered or renewed their status by then, and the Pokhara Metropolitan City extended the deadline by one day.

Till Wednesday, total 24 companies got the registration.

Sources inform that 56 companies have received permit to operate the business. Of them, 40 are in active. But now, the companies other than newly registered 24 will be shut down, according to the PMC Information Officer Ganga Lal Subedi.

Subedi informs that his office will coordinate with concerned ward offices to take action.
