PM calls five-party meeting in bid to end deadlock

Kathmandu, December 22

In a bid to resolve the current debate about the formation of National Assembly, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday has called a meeting of five political parties which will have ‘national party’ status in the House of Representatives.

The Nepali Congress President has invited top leaders of CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Centre, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal for the meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11 am today.

This is the first time after recent parliamentary elections that the parties are sitting together to discuss current political issues.

The difference over the ordinance on National Assembly that the government has forwarded to the President for enactment has halted the new government formation process following the polls.
