Kathmandu, February 26

Influential leaders Ram Chandra Paudel and Krishna Prasad Sitaula and leaders loyal to them boycotted the Central Working Committee meeting of the main opposition Nepali Congress on Tuesday.

The leaders had objected to the CWC’s decision that endorsed the amended statute on Sunday. Continuing their protests, the leaders did not show up at the meeting called for 11 am today.

General Secretary Shashanka Koirala, who is also believed to a Paudel loyal, however, attended the meeting.

Paudel, Sitaula and Others went to the central office in Sanepa, but did not show up at the meeting hall.

“We have demanded that the discipline committee and the election committee be formed on consensus and simultaneously as they are paralegal bodies,” one of the dissident leaders, Kalyan Gurung, says, “Therefore, we did not attend the meeting.”
